The Second Miraculous Catch of Fish

After the resurrection, seven of Jesus' disciples had returned to fishing on the Sea of Galilee. They fished all night and caught nothing — a scene deliberately echoing the first miraculous catch years earlier. At dawn, a figure stood on the shore and called out, "Children, have ye any meat?" When they answered no, He instructed them to cast their net on the right side of the boat.
The result was overwhelming: 153 large fish filled the net, yet remarkably it did not break. John, the beloved disciple, immediately recognized the figure on the shore: "It is the Lord!" Peter, impetuous as ever, threw himself into the sea to reach Jesus. On the shore they found a charcoal fire with fish and bread already prepared — the risen Christ serving breakfast to His disciples, a tender display of His continued care and provision.
This miracle served as a powerful confirmation of the resurrection and a restoration of the disciples' calling. The unbroken net, despite the enormous catch, symbolized the completeness and preservation of those gathered into Christ's kingdom. Jesus then used this moment to restore Peter — who had denied Him three times by a charcoal fire — asking three times, "Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me?" The miracle, the meal, and the restoration together demonstrate that the risen Lord remains the same Jesus who calls, provides, and forgives.
